Tip 1:
Clean horse's feet daily to check for any loose nails and to prevent infections. "No foot, no horse".
Tip 2:
Horses should be groomed every day before work to ensure a healthy, shiny coat.
Tip 3:
Make sure tack and harness fit properly. A small problem
can be come a very large problem after 5 miles on the road.
Tip 4:
Feed your horse a balanced diet that includes a lot of roughage such as hay, chaff or grass. Horses in work will require
some grain as well. The harder they are working, the more grain they will need.
Tip 5:
Before putting your horse away, make sure to rub down any wet areas. If the horse is sweating, ensure that you cool them
down by walking them first.
Tip 6:
A horses bedding should always be clean and free of mould. Allow them some fresh air and ensure that the stables are well
ventilated.
